Defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape will collide with Paarl Royals at the Boland Park in Paarl in match number three of the SA20 2025 season. Marking the second outing for Aiden Markram’s troops, the match will be played on Saturday, January 11 and the action is slated to commence from 4:30 PM IST onwards.

The Sunrisers Eastern Cape lost their opening match of the SA20 2025 season to MI Cape Town by a huge 97-run margin. Their NRR currently stands at a dismal -4.850, and Aiden Markram’s drawcards need to return back to their winning ways in a bid to climb up the SA20 2025 points table.

As the Sunrisers Eastern Cape brace themselves for their first away fixture of the SA20 2025 season, we look at their probable playing XI for the match against Paarl Royals.

Crawley To Open, Bedingham Gets Promoted

Zak Crawley and uncapped South African star Jordan Hermann will continue to open the innings for the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, despite their collective failure a couple of days ago against MI Cape Town. Tom Abell will likely retain his number three position as the 30-year-old holds a strike rate of nearly 154 in SA20 games.

Captain Aiden Markram and blistering wicketkeeper-batter Tristan Stubbs will occupy number four and number five positions respectively on the batting order. David Bedingham will likely be promoted to number six over the exclusion of struggling Beyers Swanepoel from the playing XI.

Marco Jansen To Helm Sunrisers Pace Attack

Marco Jansen will likely continue to open the bowling for the Sunrisers Eastern Cape. The dashing all-rounder can also go berserk with the bat in the slog overs, and will be ideal to bat at number seven. He and his pace mate Richard Gleeson might well be joined by comeback man Ottneil Baartman, who was ruled out of the opening game of the season.

Baartman holds a prolific record in SA20 cricket, having picked up 30 wickets in just 14 innings at an impressive average of 13.83. Simon Harmer and Liam Dawson will helm the Eastern Cape’s spin department.
