The 15th match between Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers was an electric affair that was dominated well by the latter. Sixers' pace attack was too much for Heat to take as they collapsed for a modest total of 138 which was easily chased by the Sixers within 16.2 overs.
As the match remained an intense battle for the previous season finalists, here’s the timeline of how Sixers vs Heat panned out at Sydney Showground Stadium:
Heat vs Sixers Highlights: Ben Dwarshuis Flattens Heat's Batting Lineup
Ben Dwarshuis was a force to reckon with in the Heat vs Sixers match. The left-arm fast bowler added 10 wickets o his BBL 14 tally with figures of 4-32 against the Heat. He pocketed the dangerous looking Tom Banton giving the Sixers an early breakthrough in the match.
Dwarshuis successfully dismissed Matt Renshaw and Paul Walter, both of whom could have posed a significant challenge if they had stayed at the crease longer. Although Dwarshuis conceded a fair number of runs, he missed the opportunity for a hat trick after he bowled out Spencer Johnson in the second ball of the 20th over.
Heat vs Sixers Highlights: Nathan McSweeney-Jimmy Peirson Offer Meek Resistance
During the match, the Heat's batting lineup struggled against the Sixers' pace attack. However, Nathan McSweeney's 34 runs off 29 balls, and Jimmy Peirson's 24 runs off 25 balls, giving some resistance and helping the team surpass the 100-run mark.
Although Peirson and McSweeney managed a partnership of only 28 runs, it was a crucial stand that provided stability amid the faltering Heat batting order, allowing for a much-needed flow of runs.
Heat vs Sixers Highlights: Bartlett, Walter Give Early Scare To Sixers
As the Sixers came into bat, they appeared to lack confidence initially. James Vince was dismissed by Xavier Bartlett in the third over, which unsettled the team. Kurtis Patterson followed soon after, getting out to Paul Walter at the end of the eighth over.
However, Patterson had provided a much-needed boost to the Sixers' innings with his score of 32 runs off 20 balls. After his dismissal, Josh Philippe took charge of the innings with a solid half-century.
