Sydney Thunder had an outside chance to make it to the knockouts stage earlier this week but the defeat in their last game against their co-city rivals Sydney Sixers officially kicked them out the 13th edition of the Australia’s premier T20 competition.

Meanwhile, Adelaide Strikers have made an incredible comeback by winning their last three games, after extracting only 3 points from their first six fixtures. They are currently placed fourth in the league standings and are very much alive in the knockout race.

Even though the Thunder are out of the knockout race, they would like to come all guns blazing in their remaining two fixtures, particularly against this game which can trouble the Strikers to sustain their top four position.

Sydney Thunder have had a season to forget as they are already out of the competition with two games in hand. Their batting has been the major reason behind their poor season barring one game in Adelaide earlier in the season. Even David Warner, who joined the squad for the first time this season in the last game, could not save them from another embarrassing batting performance.

The big international recruitments like Tom Kohler Cadmore and Alex Hales have been very far from good. Daniel Sams made headlines in one of the games with the ball but he has been inconsistent with his performance as well.
