Seddon Park, Hamilton Ground Stats for NZ vs PAK 2nd T20I

Hosts New Zealand took a 1-0 lead against Pakistan in the ongoing five-match T20I series after beating them by 46 runs in the first match on Friday at Eden Park in Auckland. Riding on a sensational 61-run knock off 27 balls from Daryl Mitchell, New Zealand posted a massive score of 226 runs in the first innings. 

Making his comeback in T20 side after 14 months, Kane Willaimson scored a valuable half-century. He provided great support to Daryl Mitchell, contributing crucial 57 runs in 42 balls. 

Shaheen Afridi accounted for Daryl Mitchell’s wicket in the 17th over. However, a valuable cameo of 26 runs off 11 balls from Chapman meant New Zealand reached a formidable total on the board. 

As for Pakistan’s bowling attack, Afridi was the pick of the bowlers, returning with 3 wickets for 46 runs in 4 over. Playing under the leadership of a new skipper in Shaheen Afridi, Pakistan rejiged their playing XI. 

Saim Ayub came to open the batting with M Rizwan, while Babar Azam batted at number three spot. Fakhar Zaman batted at four number four spot, followed by Iftikhar Ahmed and Azam Khan at fifth and sixth position, respectively.

Saim Ayub provided Pakistan a quick-fire start with a promising cameo of 27 off 8 balls. He along with M Rizwan (25 off 14) added 33 runs in just 14 balls. Pakistan didn’t lose the momentum despite the departure of Ayub as runs kept coming at quick pace. 

Pakistan lost both Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman in 49 balls but were going at over 10 runs an over. The fall of Iftikhar’s wicket in the 13th over, however, saw a downfall as wickets continues to fall at quick intervals, thereafter. 

Pakistan were, eventually, bundled out for 180. Former skipper, Babar Azam batted at number three and played a handy knock of 57 off 35 balls at a strike rate of 162.86.

The second T20I between Pakistan and New Zealand is scheduled to be played at Seddon Park in Hamilton. Notably, it is the fourth largest ground in New Zealand. 

The surface has equal is touted to be batting equally but has assistance for fast bowlers early on. It is comparatively a good batting track given the fact that a lot of high scores have been posted at this ground. The team winning the toss is likely to bat first here.
