Al Fahad Skittles South Africa For Just 128
Winning the toss and opting to bat first, South Africa Under-19 lost each of their top four batters to Al Fahad and Iqbal Hossain Emon inside the first nine overs of the match. Paul James and Armaan Manack crafted a fighting 52-run partnership for the fifth wicket to lift South Africa from 43-4 to 95-5 before the former chipped one towards Iqbal off Samiun Basir.
Daniel Bosman at number seven scored a crisp 24*, but he kept losing partners at the other end as the Proteas were bundled out for just 128 in 34.4 overs. Al Fahad unfurled the spell of the innings with figures of 4-32, while Samiun Basir and Shadhin Islam chipped in with two wickets apiece.
Samiun Basir Keeps Calm In Nervy Chase
Chasing 129, Bangladesh Under-19 slipped to 35-4, and eventually to 59-6 before the end of the 15th over of the innings. JJ Basson for South Africa struck with the new ball, as he received much assistance from pace mate Bayanda Majola (3-35).
Overcoming Bosson’s four-fer and Majola’s three-wicket haul, Samiun Basir conjured 45* fighting runs from 39 balls with seven fours and a six. The cricketer largely batted with the tail, and ensured Bangladesh sealed a thrilling one-wicket win after slipping to 109-9 at one stage.
