South Africa's young batter Jorich van Schalkwyk attained a significant landmark as he became the first-ever batter to slam a double hundred in youth One-Day matches. The stylish right-handed batter achieved the milestone during South Africa under-19 team's recent encounter against their Zimbabwean counterparts in the Tri-Nation tournament.

Van Schalkwyk Registers 1st Double Century In U19 ODIs

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, South Africa u-19 had a shaky start to their innings, losing opening batter Adnaan Lagadien and skipper Muhammed Bulbulia inside nine overs. However, Jorich van Schalkwyk and Jason Rowles formed a scintillating partnership, adding 178 runs for the third wicket.

While Rowles missed out on a well-deserved century and got out for 76, Van Schalkwyk dominated the Chevrons with his fireworks. He brought up a magnificent century and eventually converted it into a double ton, etching his name in history books.

He became the first-ever cricketer to score a double ton in youth ODIs while also surpassing Sri Lanka's Hasitha Boyagoda for the highest-ever individual score in the format.
