South Africa is currently touring Bangladesh for a two-match Test series. In the first match of the series, the South African bowlers displayed brilliance and put the team ahead in the game.

Bangladesh won the toss in the match and opted to bat first. Wiaan Mulder emerged as the leader of the South African pace as he picked up the first three wickets within the first six overs. After this, the Bangladeshi batting failed to resurrect the progress and were bundled out for 106 runs in the 41st over.

The Bangladeshi bowlers also responded well. They managed to put the visitors in trouble and had them under the barrel at 108/6. However, at this stage, the keeper batters, Kyle Verreynne and Wiaan Mulder, got together.

The two batters stitched a 119-run partnership and strengthened the team's hold on this game. Notably, Kyle Verreynne has scored a resilient half-century and has become the second wicket-keeper batter for the nation to score a half-century in Tests in Bangladesh. Also, Verreynne recorded the highest individual score by a wicket-keeper batter from South Africa in Tests in Bangladesh when he scored 72 runs in this innings. The previous record belonged to Mark Boucher, who scored 71 in 2003 in Dhaka.
