Bangladesh U19 team registered a comprehensive 59-run victory over India U19 in the final of the ACC U19 Asia Cup 2024 on Sunday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. With this win, the Bangla Tigers successfully defended their U19 Asia Cup title.

Here’s the timeline of how BAN-U19 vs IND-U19 final panned out in Dubai-

BAN-U19 vs IND-U19 Highlights: Bangladesh Get Off To a Dismal Start

After being invited to bat first, Bangladesh U19 didn’t have the best start. Kalam Siddiki was back in the hut for just 1 courtesy of Yudhajit Guha, and Zawad Abrar couldn’t stick around for long either as he was dismissed by Chetan Sharma. Captain Azizul Hakim Tamim tried to hold things together but fell for 16 to Kitan Chormale.

Then came the heroes—Mohammad Shihab James (40) and Rizan Hossan (47). The duo built a solid partnership and gave Bangladesh a much-needed boost.

Farid Hasan came in and added a quick 39, taking the team close to 200. The Indian bowlers didn’t make it easy though. Yudhajit Guha (2/29) and Hardik Raj (2/41) kept things tight, wrapping up Bangladesh’s innings for 198.

India’s chase got off to an abysmal start. Ayush Mhatre was cleaned up for just 1, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi couldn’t last long either, falling for 9. The early blows set India on the back foot.

C Andre Siddarth (20) and KP Karthikeya (21) tried to fight back, but the Bangladeshi bowlers were all over them. Iqbal Hossain Emon was the star, picking up two big wickets and keeping the pressure on.

Emon was on fire as he then sent Karthikeya and Nikhil Kumar packing in no time, leaving India reeling at 73/5. Every time India tried to settle, Emon and his fellow bowlers made sure they stayed under the pump.

With half the team back in the pavilion, India’s chase looked more like a climb up a steep mountain. The required run rate was ticking up, and Bangladesh had all the momentum.

BAN-U19 vs IND-U19 Highlights: Amaan Fights On But Bangla Bowlers Run Through India

Indian skipper Mohamed Amaan kept fighting alone as wickets kept falling around him. Despite his courageous effort, the lack of support from the other end made the task impossible. Harvansh Singh and Kiran Chormale couldn’t make an impact, falling for 6 and 1, respectively.

Amaan’s resistance finally ended when he was dismissed by his opposite number, Hakim Tamim. Hardik Raj and Chetan Sharma were the last to fall, sealing India U19’s fate as they went down by 59 runs in a crushing defeat.
