As India looked to build their second-innings lead in the morning session, KL Rahul, who was batting with grit and purpose, tried to keep Pant in check.

“Ball achhe se dekho,” he told his younger partner and reminded him to focus with England tightening the screws.

Now, most batters might have nodded and moved on. But not Rishabh Pant. Without skipping a beat, the southpaw hit back with a cheeky dig:

On the other end, Rahul played second fiddle: solid, composed and quietly piling on the runs. The duo stitched together a 61-run partnership that helped India move to 153/3 by Lunch, with a healthy lead of 159 runs.
