Australia will be looking for a clean sweep while West Indies will be searching for a consolation win when the two teams will collide in match number three of their ODI series on February 6. The much-awaited contest will be hosted by the Manuka Oval in Canberra, and will be succeeded by a three-match T20I series between the two sides.

AUS vs WI 2024, 3rd ODI: Team Previews

Australia

Australia trounced the visiting West Indies unit by eight wickets in the first ODI and by 83 runs in the second to claim their three-match series with a game to spare. Currently on an 11-game winning streak, the hosts will be aiming to extend their unbeaten run and seal their ODI rubber by a 3-0 margin.

Australia, however, is marred by a number of changes and rested seniors. In-form opener Travis Head was ruled out of the final two ODIs, while Matthew Short will be unavailable for the series finale owing to an injury. Xavier Bartlett, who made his debut in the series opener, is set to make his return at Canberra after he was rested from the SCG affair.

West Indies

West Indies will be aiming to seek a consolation win at Canberra in a bid to avoid a 0-3 whitewash before the T20I segment of the tour. So far in the series, Keacy Carty and Roston Chase have stepped up with the bat but have received little-to-no assistance from the rest of the line-up. Gudakesh Motie, Romario Shepherd and Alzarri Joseph have delivered timely breakthroughs but West Indies bowling attack is yet to make a collective match-winning impact.

The visitors entered the series off the back of a stunning 2-1 win over England at home last month. While they have failed to qualify for next year’s Champions Trophy 2025, the West Indies team will be taking field at Canberra with a point to prove against the 2023 World Cup winners.

AUS vs WI 2024, 3rd ODI: Canberra Pitch Report

The playing conditions at Manuka Oval in Canberra has historically provided much assistance to batters in ODI cricket. The average first innings score after 10 matches staged at the venue has been 309. It is imperative for fast bowlers to make an impact with the new-ball before batters can dictate their terms in the innings. The captain winning the toss will likely opt to bat first, considering the chasing sides have lost eight out of the 10 fixtures here.
