Jasprit Bumrah will likely be rested from India’s squad for the third Test of the series against England. The senior Indian paceman played a pivotal role in his team’s series-levelling win at Vizag, as the 30-year-old claimed nine English wickets across both innings of their must-win game.
As per recent reports, the national selectors and the Indian team management are considering to give Bumrah a break for the subsequent Rajkot affair amidst his hectic cricketing schedule.
Bumrah likely to be given a break from Rajkot Test
Jasprit Bumrah bowled more than 33 overs combined across both innings of the Vizag Test to claim match-winning figures of 9-91. The speedster also sent down nearly 25 overs in the series opener at Hyderabad, thus helming India’s pace attack in both matches on spin-friendly surfaces.
As per a report from Cricbuzz, the team management is considering to give Bumrah a break from the forthcoming Rajkot Test amidst his taxing schedule. If he is indeed given the break, the speedster will be rejoining the Indian squad for the final two matches of the series, set to be played in Ranchi and Dharamshala respectively.
With Mohammed Shami still recovering from his troubled ankle, Bumrah’s place will likely be taken by Mohammed Siraj.
Siraj was handed a similar break for the Vizag Test, thus paving way for Mukesh Kumar into the playing XI.
With Team India wrapping up the second Test inside four days, they will now go up against the visiting English team at Rajkot’s Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium. The much-awaited fixture will be commencing from February 15 onwards, i.e., 10 days after the conclusion of the Vizag Test.
