With a depleted pace attack, Pakistan were concerned about how they would pick up wickets in Australia and named domestic performer Aamer Jamal into the squad for the Benaud-Qadir Trophy.
Jamal, 27, with 18 wickets so far, has already created history - becoming the first bowler to pick 18 scalps in his debut series.
The right-arm pacer made an instant impact in his debut Test in Perth, claiming his maiden six-wicket haul, which was followed by a five-wicket haul in Melbourne.
In the ongoing Sydney Test, Jamal first displayed his prowess with the bat, slamming a 97-ball 83, which lifted Pakistan to 313 in their first innings.
With the ball, Jamal, once again, stood up and clinched his second six-for in the series, picking up figures of 6 for 69, which saw him enter a rare list of Pakistan players who scored 80 and picked six wickets.
Jamal became only the second player, after former captain and all-rounder Imran Khan, to score 80 runs and register a six-for in the same match. Khan achieved this feat in a Test against India in 1983 at Faisalabad, where the legendary player scored 117 and claimed a six-wicket and five-wicket hauls.

Jamal's six-for enabled Pakistan to gain a slender 14-run lead over Australia, which has extended to 82 by stumps on Day 3.
Hosts Australia have already gained a 2-0 lead in the three-Test series.
