Mitchell Marsh is a rare talent and there is no doubting that. On his day, he can take the game away from the opposition both with the bat and ball regardless of the format. In the last few years, his stocks in white-ball cricket have grown rapidly but his Test career was still in jeopardy. However, he has made a rollicking comeback in Test cricket now with a superb counter-attacking century in the third Ashes Test.

He came out to bat with Aussies in all sorts of trouble at 85-4 but showed nerves of steel and tremendous application to take his team to a formidable position. He smashed a century of 102 balls and never let England bowlers settle who were on a roll before Marsh walked out to the middle.

Marsh's footwork and his shot making were pretty precise in his knock and the fact that he is playing Test cricket after four long years makes it even more special. He was dropped by Root when he was batting on 12 at first slip but since then Marsh dominated the proceedings. He was particularly severe on anything short and his counter-attacking knock has put Australia in a decent position after a horrendous start in the first session.

Marsh's stunning knock came to an end right at the stroke of the Tea as the swashbuckling batter was dismissed on 118 by Chris Woakes. At Tea, Australia are 240/5 with Head batting on 37 and the likes of Alex Carey, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc to follow.
