Aiden Markram, South Africa's captain for the game against England in the absence of Temba Bavuma walked off the field during the 31st over of English innings. He faced a discomfort in his right hamstring and would not take the field in the remainder of England's innings. Also, according to the update by CSA, he will come out to bat only if required.

Markram's Injury A Concern For Dominant Proteas

In Markram's absence, Heinrich Klaasen will lead South Africa in the remainder of the game. Also, with the Proteas in a strong position already, they would not like to risk Markram further in the game. However, they would hope that the injury is not serious enough and Aiden Markram is fit and ready for the all-important semifinal of Champions Trophy.

The likes of Temba Bavuma and Tony de Zorzi are already ill and South Africa who are playing quality cricket would not want their campaign to get disrupt due to some unwanted injuries. They also are in line to top the group and qualified for the semis in the first innings itself by bundling out England for 179.

For Afghanistan to qualify at the cost of South Africa, they needed England to beat South Africa by 207 runs, which is not possible now which makes South Africa the fourth team to qualify for the Champions Trophy 2025 semifinal.

Talking about the match, England won the toss and decided to bat first. However, their famed batting line-up crumbled big time. Marco Jansen and Wiaan Mulder bagged three wickets apiece while Keshav Maharaj grabbed two wickets.
