In a significant development ahead of the final group-stage match between England and South Africa of the ongoing Champions Trophy in Karachi, Temba Bavuma was notably absent from the toss. Instead, Aiden Markram stood in as the captain for South Africa, leading the team in this crucial encounter.

Why Is Temba Bavuma Not Playing vs ENG?

At the toss, Aiden Markram revealed that Bavuma had been sidelined due to illness and is resting at the team hotel. He confirmed that the regular captain would not be taking part in the match against England.

Yeah just two guys, we have got some illness going around for us. Tony de Zorzi and Temba are the two guys who are there in the team hotel. Unfortunately, we don't have them playing today. If we do qualify for the semis, hopefully we have them back in our side.

Despite the setback, South Africa remains in a strong position, sitting just on the edge of qualifying for the semi-finals, provided they avoid a major collapse in this match. England, already eliminated from the tournament, won the toss and opted to bat first, looking to finish their Champions Trophy campaign on a high note.

It is important to mention that Tony de Zorzi is also missing this match due to illness. South Africa has made two forced changes: Tristan Stubbs and Heinrich Klaasen come in place of Bavuma and Tony de Zorzi.
