The Ranji Trophy 2024-25 is currently underway and in Elite Group C encounter between Kerala and Haryana, Anshul Kamboj delivered a brilliant performance with the ball. The right-arm pacer has picked all eight wickets to fall till the end of Day 2 and is now on the verge of becoming just the third cricketer in Ranji Trophy to pick all 10 wickets in an innings.
Premangsu Chatterjee was the first man to pick all 10 wickets in an innings in a Ranji Trophy match. He played for Bengal and it was against Assam in the 1956/57 season of the tournament. The second match to achieve the same feat was Pradeep Sunderam for Rajasthan against Vidarbha. It was the 1985-86 season of Ranji Trophy and now after 39 years, Anshul Kamboj has a chance of joining this elite list.
Anshul Kamboj Derails Kerala's Charge In Ranji Encounter
Before the ongoing game, Anshul Kamboj had 47 wickets in 18 first-class matches and has been a consistent performer since his debut in the 2022 season. He also played three matches for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024. The match between Kerala and Haryana is happening at the Ch Bansai Lal Cricket Stadium, Rohtak and Kerala after staring off decently, lost their way. They were 91-1 at one point in time and four players - Rohan Kunnummal, Akshay Chauhan, Sachin Baby and Mohammed Azharuddeen scored fifties.
Anshul Kamboj has bowled 27 overs overs so far and has given away 48 runs which include seven maidens and eight wickets. Shoun Roger is batting on 37 and Thampi is batting on 4, and it would be interesting to see how Kamboj goes about his business on Day 3.
