After a lacklustre performance in the second T20I of the series, Team India bounced back in style to clinch the 3rd match of the series at the SuperSport Park, Centurion. The batters laid the foundation for a win and the platform was set by Tilak Varma, who scored his maiden T20I ton.
The youngster became the second youngest Indian T20I centurion after Yashasvi Jaiswal and was at his imperial best as he remained unbeaten at 107 and took India to a strong total. He was amply supported by Abhishek Sharma, who scored a quick-fire fifty and silenced his critics.
Despite a big total to be achieved, South Africa made a match out of it, courtesy of some brilliant last moment onslaught from Marco Jansen who scored a 16-ball fifty and gave a mini heart-attack to the Indian fans.
Now, the caravan moves to the series finale on Friday as the Proteas will look to level the series, while the visitors will look to seal it. However, ahead of the final match, we look at India's possible combination.
Sanju to be removed after poor performance?
Back-to-back centuries, followed by two ducks in a row, this has been the Sanju Samson story. He slammed a brilliant ton Vs Bangladesh, and followed it up with a stunning 107 Vs the Proteas in the first T20I. However, it was followed by ducks in the last two matches as Samson suddenly looks under-confident.
He played a blinder in the first T20I, but suddenly finds himself at the centre of criticism with his batting in the last two T20Is. However, this new regime believes in showing trust and irrespective of the outcome, Suryakumar will look to back him for the 4th T20I as well.
India don't believe in too many chopping and changing, and barring any last minute injury or tactical tweak, Suryakumar Yadav is likely to go with the same lineup for the series finale.
