New Zealand fast bowler Adam Milne gave fellow countryman Finn Allen an intense sendoff to light up the opening match of the BBL 2024-25 season. Making his BBL debut while opening the innings for the Perth Scorchers at the Perth Stadium, Allen smoked his first ball out of the boundary for a soaring six to kick-off his team’s chase of 147.
However, Melbourne Stars new ball quick Adam Milne got his revenge off the very next delivery by knocking over the middle stump of the right-handed opener.
New Zealand standoff lights up BBL 2024-25 opener
Finn Allen celebrated his BBL debut with a huge six off Adam Milne towards his leg side. Opening the innings for Perth Scorchers during a chase of 147 in the first match of the BBL 2024-25 season, the 25-year-old New Zealand cricketer was knocked over by fellow countryman and Melbourne Stars fast bowler Adam Milne off the very next delivery.
Celebrating his revenge, Milne leaped into the air in delight and was soon mobbed by his Melbourne Stars teammates.
Earlier in the match, the Melbourne Stars made 146-9 from 20 overs after captain Marcus Stoinis won the toss and opted to bat first. Stoinis himself top-scored for his team with a fluent 37 from 33 balls. Tom Curran also scored 37 during the slog overs with three boundaries and three sixes in his 19-ball cameo.
For the Scorchers, Jhye Richardson picked up three wickets, including that of Sam Harper and Beau Webster. Lance Morris (2-30), Jason Behrendorff (1-19) and Ashton Agar (1-24) also chipped in with crucial wickets throughout the Melbourne Stars innings.
