India are all set to take on Australia in a five-match T20I series starting October 29, right after the ODI series. This will also mark Suryakumar Yadav’s return to the field since the 2025 Asia Cup final. India, who lost the ODI series 1–2, will now aim to bounce back and win the T20I series under Suryakumar’s captaincy.

Since taking over the T20I captaincy from Rohit Sharma after the 2024 T20 World Cup win, Suryakumar has remained unbeaten as captain. As he leads the team against Australia for the first time, he stands on the verge of breaking a few major records in this format. Here are three milestones he can achieve in this upcoming series.

1. Most Centuries in T20Is

Suryakumar Yadav currently has four centuries in T20Is. The record for most centuries in the format is shared by Rohit Sharma and Glenn Maxwell, who have five each. Batting at the top order, Suryakumar will have a perfect chance to either equal or break this record. Given his explosive form in the 2025 IPL, it wouldn’t be surprising if he ends the series as the player with the most T20I hundreds in the world.

2. Second Indian to Hit 150 Sixes in T20Is

Another big milestone in sight for Suryakumar is the 150-sixes mark. He currently has 148 sixes, just two short of reaching this landmark. Once he hits two more, he will join Rohit Sharma, who leads the list with 205 sixes, as the only Indians to achieve this feat. Notably, Rohit reached his number in 159 matches before retiring from T20Is.

3. Surpassing MS Dhoni’s Record Against Australia

Suryakumar is also close to breaking MS Dhoni’s record for most T20I runs by an Indian against Australia. Dhoni scored 313 runs in 15 innings, while Suryakumar currently stands at 290 runs. He needs just 23 more to go past Dhoni and become the fourth-highest run-scorer for India against Australia. Ahead of him are Shikhar Dhawan (347 runs), Rohit Sharma (484 runs), and Virat Kohli (794 runs) at the top.
