Rauf taken to cleaners [Source: @CallMeSheri1_/x.com]
Haris Rauf, the Pakistan seamer, had a horrendous spell in the Asia Cup final against India, as his bowling cost Pakistan the game and the tournament. He went for plenty of runs as India snatched the victory from jaws of defeat, and as a result, the pacer was dropped from the main T20I squad to face South Africa and was put in the reserves.
Clueless Rauf gets hammered in domestic cricket
Just one poor performance led to him being cast out of the side as he returned to the domestic circuit and played in Pakistan’s first-class competition. He participated in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy to get his rhythm back, but the right-arm pacer was taken to the cleaners as he looked toothless.
Aashar Mehmood, the Sialkot batter, made a mockery of Rauf’s bowling in the first-class match as the premium Pakistan pacer was hammered all over the ground. Mehmood started out with some sumptuous drives, and then he took the aerial route as Rauf looked clueless against him and went for plenty of runs. Rauf looked clueless as the Sialkot batter showed no fear and he wasn’t even afraid to take the aerial route against him.
Rauf aiming for Pakistan comeback
Surprisingly, Rauf didn’t even play all matches in the Asia Cup 2025 campaign, and while he did well in the matches that he played, his finale performances led to his downfall in T20Is. Hence, when the Pakistan T20I squad was revealed for the South Africa clash, his exclusion didn’t come as a shocker.
The Pakistan selectors have made it clear that to get back in the Pakistan team, the pacer has to deliver the goods in the domestic circuit; however, his recent performance was a cause of worry as the right-arm pacer was hammered by the opposition batter in first-class cricket.
