Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star player Urvil Patel showed amazing form while playing for Gujarat in their Ranji Trophy match against Bengal at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on Tuesday, October 28. The talented wicketkeeper-batsman smashed a century off just 96 balls, lighting up Day 4 of the match. His innings came at a crucial time, as Gujarat was struggling at 50 for 3 while chasing 327 runs.

Coming in to bat at number three after Abhishek R Desai got out on the very first ball, Urvil steadied the innings. While wickets kept falling at the other end, he stayed calm and played confidently. His quick yet composed batting helped Gujarat fight back. Urvil also built a valuable 100-run partnership with Jaymeet (34 runs), which gave Gujarat hope of chasing down the big target.
Facing a strong Bengal bowling attack that included stars like Mohammed Shami, Akashdeep Deep, Abhishek Porel, and Shahbaz Ahmed, Urvil showed courage and skill. He reached his century with powerful shots and clever stroke play, eventually scoring an unbeaten 109 runs off 124 balls. Unfortunately, he had to retire hurt due to cramps. Though he later returned to bat, Gujarat’s innings soon collapsed to 185 all out, and Bengal won the match by 141 runs.
Despite the defeat, Urvil’s performance stood out. In his short first-class career, he has already scored 458 runs in 11 matches with a top score of 140.
Urvil is also a rising star in T20 cricket. The wicket-keeper cricketer holds the record for the fastest T20 century by an Indian, reaching the milestone in just 28 balls against Tripura in 2024. He also hit another quick hundred off 36 balls against Uttarakhand the same year.
Notably, in IPL 2025 season, Urvil was brought into the CSK squad as a replacement for Vansh Bedi. He played three matches, scoring 68 runs.
