After a disappointing ODI series, the Indian team has started its preparations for the upcoming T20I series against Australia. The 5-match series will begin on October 29 in Canberra. Suryakumar Yadav is set to lead the Indian team, while Mitchell Marsh will captain the home side. The series is expected to be quite competitive, as most of the Indian players are in form and have recently won the Asia Cup 2025.

Suryakumar Yadav spotted with fans

Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav was spotted outside the Manuka Oval after an intense practice session. He was talking to the fans and was seen laughing and having a good time while taking a selfie with a fan. With the T20I series approaching, the skipper’s form is also a concern for the Indian team. After getting the leadership role, SKY’s average has dropped to 26.82.

In 27 T20I matches as captain, he has scored 617 runs at an average of 26.82. However, before taking over the captaincy, his batting average was 43.40. With the T20I World Cup 2026 approaching faster, SKY’s form will remain a concern for the management. Despite achieving results as a team, if a captain’s form is not great, the team may fall under pressure in crucial situations.

Can India win the T20I series against Australia?

The Indian team currently features players such as Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Shubman Gill, Arshdeep Singh, and many others who are in top-notch form. They have been performing for a long time, but scoring in the Australian pitches might be trickier than it looks.

Moreover, the hosts have a talented bowling lineup, including Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Ellis, and many more, who are well-acquainted with the pitch conditions and know their way around. Hence, it might be a bit difficult for the Indian team to win the series. However, if they start by clinching victory in the first match, the course of the series might change.
