In a recent development, Suryakumar Yadav has shared a fresh update on Shreyas Iyer’s health. India's T20I captain confirmed that the star batter has started talking and responding to messages from his hospital in Sydney.

It is important to mention that Iyer had suffered internal bleeding and laceration injury to his spleen while taking a catch to dismiss Alex Carey during the third ODI against Australia on Saturday.

Following the incident, Iyer was rushed to a Sydney hospital and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for treatment. However, according to the latest reports, he has been moved out of the ICU and is now in a stable condition.

Speaking at press conference ahead of the five-match T20I series against Australia in Canberra, Suryakumar Yadav said he was relieved to hear that Iyer was doing better.

“We spoke to him," Surya told reporters on Tuesday. “The first day I got to know he was injured, I called him. Then I found out he didn't have his phone with him, so I called the physio, Kamlesh Jain. But I have been talking to him over the last two days. He has been replying. Agar woh reply kar raha hai (If he is able to reply over the phone), that means he is stable.

He added that while Shreyas Iyer’s recovery is progressing, doctors will continue to keep him under observation for a few more days.

It's looking good...the doctors are there already. They will keep him under observation for a few days. However, he has been replying and talking to everyone, which is good,” he said in the pre-match conference.

According to prior reports, the BCCI medical team in Sydney, along with specialists from India, is closely monitoring Iyer’s recovery process. The 30-year-old batter will remain in Sydney until doctors confirm that he is fit to travel.
