Lhuan-dre Pretorius is one of the most highly rated young cricketers in South Africa. He did brilliantly in SA20, and before his Proteas debut, the 19-year-old was bought by RR at the fag end of IPL 2025.

He then started his Test career with a stunning century and now has played a few T20Is too, where his performances have been inconsistent. In the ongoing T20I series between South Africa and Australia, the young left-handed batter has failed to make his mark in both innings.

However, in his short run-a-ball stay for 10 runs, the batter did show his insane power. He walked out to bat at number three after the wicket of Ryan Rickelton. He started with a few safe nudges here and there and then decided to unleash his power against Glenn Maxwell.

On the third ball of the fifth over, Glenn Maxwell tossed it up on middle and leg. Lhuan-dre Pretorius made room, went low and then nailed his slog-sweep to a great effect. The ball hit the middle of his blade and went all the way over deep mid-wicket. It not only crossed the playing area but also went over the roof, leaving Australian players and especially Glenn Maxwell completely stunned.

South Africa Lose Early Wickets In 2nd T20I

However, just when it looked like Lhuan-dre Pretorius would kick on and get a big score, the batter was run out on the fifth ball of the seventh over. His wicket reduced South Africa to 57 for three in the seventh over, and once again, the Proteas have lost their way early with the bat.

The home team, Australia, are leading the series with a win in the first match by 17 runs, and one more win would help them seal the series. For the finalists of the 2024 T20 World Cup, it is a must-win game, and they now need their middle order to step up.
