IND vs AUS: Live Blog, Tweets, Videos, Reactions and More...

image-lehbdldiAustralia beat India by five runs (Source: Twitter/@T20WorldCup)

Australia enters the final of the Women's T20 World Cup 2023 with a five-run win over India.

This brings us to the end of the coverage, I, Aayush Mahajan, on the behalf of OneCricket team say toodles. We will be back again soon.

The defending champions Australia enter the final of a world event yet again. Thoroughly professional display from their end. Mooney and Lanning starred for them with the bat. Gardner and Darcie led them well with the ball. While the Aussies were put into pressure in phases by India, they brought their experience to the fore to find ways out of it.

Another case of so-near-yet-so-far for India. Barring the 69-run partnership between Jemimah and Harmanpreet, the run-chase never looked on. Wickets kept on tumbling as India succumbed to pressure, eventually losing by five runs.

Shakir: Ohh!! This one hurts....WOW!! Didn't we had a chance and a half with 40 required off 33 balls with Harman and Ghosh in the middle, Deepti and Rana remaining in the dug-out. But the CURSE continues as Indian hearts shatter once again...only to hope for a ICC Trophy the next time!!

Player of the match - Ashleigh Gardner

Australia won by five wickets

Yadav had no option to but to go for a boundary. She tried to do so but failed in her attempt, giving an easy catch to Ellyse Perry.

Gardner will bowl the last over. India need 16 runs to win.

Radhav Yadav is the new batter.

Jess Jonassen fetches Rana's wicket. She bowled slow in the air as the ball went on the rattle the stumps.

Aayush: India has been deprieved of a wide here. Although Rana shuffled towards the right, it was way past the leg-stump.

Rana plays the pressure shot. Scores an important boundary to keep India in the chase as they now need 20 runs off 12 deliveries.

Aayush: Is another heartbreak in the making for India? They need 31 off the last three overs with six wickets in hand.

Sneh Rana is India's number 8.

Darcie strikes again. It's Ghosh's turn to walk back now. As the run-rate kept on creeping, she aimed for a boundary only to get catched.

Deepti Sharma comes in at number 7 for India.

And we have jinxed it. What a way to get out. Harmanpreet's bat got stuck on the pitch as she could not make it to the crease while running a two.

Probuddha: Number 7 playing a big role in an important match, I have seen it before 🤩

The Harmanpreet Kaur show is on

Amidst the fitness concerns, Harmanpreet rose to the occasion, scoring a fifty for her team. India now are ahead in the match.

India have managed to pull the plug on Australia's comeback. The last four overs have yielded 31 runs despite Jemimah's wicket.

Healy returns the favour. Brown drew an edge off Harmanpreet's bat but the ball was put down by the keeper.

India's power-hitter Richa Ghosh is the new batter.

Shakir: No nail is final till Harman is standing on the pitch, MATE!

DG: And there goes the final nail in the coffin

And just as I wrote it, Jemimah perishes, trying to play a ramp shot over the wicket-keeper. Darcie Brown caused her dismissal as Healy took an easy coach.

Needing 80 off the final 10 overs, it is not much of a great ask for India. However, things will not take much time to change if one of Harmanpreet and Jemimah gets out.

Suddenly, India seem to be running away with the game. Australia must apply brakes, otherwise, it could be all over for them soon.

Shakir: That was the shot of the match for me from Jemimah!! Right there

DG: It's similar to what Kohli, Pandya did against Pakistan. They took the game deep and one of them stood till the end.

Shakir: India's hopes lie on shoulders of Harman-Jemimah. Can her-story be ours!?

With every run, India are sliding their way back into the match. The partnership between Jemimah and Harmanpreet has crossed 50 runs.

Georgia Wareham is brought into the attack.

India are keeping up with the run-rate demands and have scored 59 runs in the powerplay. But after losing as many as three wickets inside the first six overs, Harmanpreet and Co. have themselves hanging by a thread.

DG: I am shocked that you guys had high expectations from this game. This is more of a mental blockage. Poor fielding and decision making have cost us the game.

Aayush: Seems like it, Shakir. But hang in there, hope for a miracle.

Shakir: One more ICC tournament, one more knock-out match and India seem to be shaken by the big stage. I think the curse of semi-finals is to continue at the Newlands today‼️

India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur is now in the middle.

Another one bites the dust. India are now making a mockery of themselves. A poor call by Yastika leads to her dismissal, courtesy of a run-out

Jemimah Rodrigues gets into the action straightaway by scoring two consecutive fours.

And the finger is raised as the hawkeye showed all reds. India lose Smriti Mandhana as chasing the target now seems a far-fetched idea.

Another review but this time it's Australia who have opted for it.

Yastika Bhatia takes on Schutt. Facing only her second delivery, Yastika targets the straight boundary as she scored a four

Megan Schutt gets rid of Shafali. The batter took a DRS after umpire adjudged her lbw. But to her misfortune, she was out. India are now 11-1.

Shafali lofts to mid-wicket as India scores first boundary of the innings.

It's time for the second innings. Indian openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma are ready for the ultimate test.

Australia have set-up a mammoth 173-run target for India. Mooney's half-century gave Australia a brilliant platform. Lanning and Gardner started from where she left. For India, Shikha Pandey had a better day than the other bowlers as she took two wickets for 32 runs.

18 runs coming off last over of the innings

Australia bring up their 150 with still an over to go in the innings.

And Shakir, she is gone... Shikha Pandey bamboozles Harris with a slower delivery as India are making a recovery.

Shakir: Australian She-Hulk is here aka GRACE HARRIS!!

Aayush: The last wicket by Deepti can restrict them under 170.

Shakir: I rephrase my question Aayush, Can India chase 170+? 😅

Brilliant over by Deepti. As she dried up the runs, Gardner looked to go hard on a yorker, ending up cleaning herself. Australia are now 142/3 at the end of the 18th.

Another fielding lapse by India. A throw at the wrong end helped Gardner survive.

It's Gardner now who is punishing India with her boundary blast.

It has not panned out the way India would have like so far. With Lanning starting to score boundaries with ease, India could be chasing a total of above 170 if the bowlers do not start coming good soon.

Aayush: For India to chase 160, it will come down upon Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh. Otherwise, it many end up as another disappointing end to the tournament.

Shakir: I will ask you all a very brutal question. Can we chase 160 against the Aussies!?

Arjun: Can someone tell me exactly what Shafali said after giving Mooney a send-off? 😉😉

Lanning saves herself from a stumping as she gets back to the crease on time.

Ashleigh Gardner is the new batter.

Second wicket for India. Soon after scoring her fifty, Mooney departs. Shikha sent the batter packing as Shafali redeems herself off the dropped catch with this take.

Aayush: The gulf between Australia and other teams is just so wide. But India are known for their fightbacks. Do not lose hope yet.

Shakir: Are Australia too good or are we not at the level we need to be!?

Australia's T20I domination

DG: The result is already known. Predictable game.

Indian fielders are having an off-day. After Ghosh's drop, Shafali Verma fails to grab onto a catch as Mooney gets an extended stay at the crease.

Richa Ghosh misses an opportunity. Lanning edged a Sneh Rana delivery that got dropped by wicket-keeper. Will India pay for it?

Shakir: India have somewhat kept control on the run flow and have now struck. But they have to keep chipping away if they want to restrict Aussies to a modest total!!

Australia skipper Meg Lanning comes in at number 3.

Yes!!! India gives Australian innings its' first dent. Yadav flights the delivery as Healy misses it completely and gets stumped. Big, big wicket for India.

Radha Yadav comes in to the attack. Will she break it open for India?

Australia have a good enough start. They are 42-0 at the end of powerplay. Deepti Sharma has looked woeful so far, conceding 25 runs in her three overs. India need a breakthrough desperately.

It's not-out. Ultradege shows a spike as the ball passes through Healy's glove. Australia are still without any loss as India lose a review.

India take a DRS. Healy tries to sweep but gets hit on the pads. Will this be OUT?

As Renuka did not get much swing, India brought in Shikha Pandey as the first-change bowler. However, Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney continue to go strong.

It tells so much about the depth Australia possess.

Aayush: Definitely, Shakir. That final still haunts. I hope Indian players do not have that game feeding in at the back of their minds.

Shakir: A good start from the Aussies and Healy showing the shades of the 2020 World Cup Final. Not a good sign for the Indian Fans.

Renuka Singh Thakur was fuller in length in her first over. Barring the boundary ball, Australia could not take much advantage as they are 6-0 after the first over.

We are done with the national anthems. It's time for the first ball to be bowled.

Shakir: Yes, I believe India needed that, especially felt that in the game against England where we lacked that fire power at the later stage of the innings. Let's see how this change goes

Aayush, 6:28 PM: Good evening Shakir, Harmanpreet Kaur talked about adding an extra batter in their line-up at the toss. Do you think that that is the correct move?

Shakir, 6:24 PM: Hello Aayush, and good evening guys. We all are pumped to be in the Semi Final but let's be really honest, it is going to be an uphill task for the Indians to topple the Aussies in the knockout game at the World Stage!

Pitch Report: It is a fresh pitch on offer. Batters will fancy themselves to clear the short boundaries. With both teams having power-hitters, expect it be a high-scoring game.
