India's star wicketkeeper-batsman, Rishabh Pant, has come out in support of the iconic Sonnet Cricket Club, which has been unceremoniously evicted from its home of many years at Sri Venkateswara College. The Club, renowned for producing a plethora of Indian cricket stars and domestic players, has been left without a training ground, leaving the current generation of cricketers in limbo.

Pant, who himself honed his cricketing skills at Sonnet, took to social media to express his disappointment and call for the governing bodies of Venkateshwara College to reconsider their decision. The Delhi Capitals star implored the college to take into account the Club's illustrious history and contribution to the sport, not just in India but worldwide.

In his heartfelt tweet, the young cricketer said that Sonnet played a crucial role in shaping his career and that of many other budding cricketers. He emphasized that the Club was not just a facility, but a heritage institution and a home for countless aspiring cricketers.

Pant went on to add that the Club had always abided by the college's rules, and he appealed to the authorities to reverse their decision. He highlighted the fact that Sonnet was an institution that had traversed multiple locations over the years before finally settling at Sri Venkateswara College, which was now leaving them high and dry.

Sonnet Cricket Club was founded in 1969 by the esteemed coach Tarak Sinha, who received the Dronacharya award for his contribution to cricket coaching. The Club's journey saw them moving from the Birla School in Kamla Nagar to several other locations, including the DCM Ground, PGDAV College, Rajdhani College, and Piknic Hut.

Now, without a home, there is a massive cloud of uncertainty looming over the future of the club and the aspiring cricketers who call it home.
