Yashasvi Jaiswal turned up for Rajasthan Royals against Mumbai Indians in the ongoing IPL 2023 season, a contest registered as match number 1,000 in tournament’s history. The youngster celebrated the landmark game with a scintillating ton, as he doused a strong Mumbai Indians attack with his 62-ball 124.

After the match, the 21-year-old revealed his mental and physical routine to get to this stage, and spoke about the moment of reaching his century.

Yashasvi Jaiswal hammered 124 from just 62 deliveries, in an innings which featured 16 boundaries and eight sixes. The knock marked his maiden ton in T20 cricket, and he snatched away the season’s ‘Orange Cap’ from Faf du Plessis, thus ending his extensive stay at the top.

However, his career-best effort turned out to be insufficient for the Royals, as they knelt in front of a rampaging Mumbai Indians middle-order, mainly Suryakumar Yadav, Tim David and Cameron Green.

After the match, Jaiswal spoke in length about the moment of reaching his century. He claimed that he did not knew at the time that the ball had touched the ropes for a boundary.

“When I scored the century, I didn't know that ball had gone to the boundary. So when that happened, I just thanked God for the opportunity, I always had this dream, wanted to work on the process and work hard. Results will follow,”

He also revealed that he has maintained himself by working on his fitness with a strict diet. The dynamic youngster further stated that he has finally organised his life outside cricket.

“I keep myself mentally strong and work on my fitness and diet. Organised my life well outside of cricket.”

Jaiswal will reprise his role for the Rajasthan Royals in their subsequent fixture, i.e., a home game against defending champions Gujarat Titans on May 5.
