Rishabh Pant is one of the brightest talents to emerge in world cricket in recent times and has made rapid strides in world cricket since his entry into the big stage. However, an unfortunate car accident in December 2022 put an abrupt pause to the dashing wicketkeeper batter's rise. He went through a surgery for ligament tears after that incident and has missed plenty of high profile series for India and could not take part in IPL 2023 as well.

There were always huge doubts over his availability for the World Cup 2023 and now it has been confirmed that he will miss Asia Cup and World Cup 2023!

According to the reports, Pant's availability on the cricket field will take quite a long time than initially anticipated by some and it would be even highly optimistic to expect him back on cricket field in January 2024. It is expected that Pant will take minimum 7-8 months to be on the cricket field, and we might see him playing as a pure batter initially when he makes a comeback. It will take more time to get him to the fitness level required for going through the rigours of wicketkeeping.

Pant was recently seen walking with crutches during the IPL games of Delhi Capitals and he might be able to walk on his own within a few weeks. BCCI, on its part, is taking all efforts to look after Pant and is supporting him in all possible ways.

Rishabh Pant is receiving treatment under the care of Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala who is head at the Centre for Sports Medicine, and director of Arthroscopy and Shoulder Service at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute in Mumbai.

He might undergo more surgeries if needed and this means that India would now have to be ready for a life without Rishabh Pant at least till the start of 2024.
