MI-W vs GUJ-W - Toss Factor

So far, teams batting first have had an advantage at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. With little dew in the later half of the game, the pitch tends to slow down, which benefits the bowlers. The new ball provides movement for seamers, but spinners also play an important role in the game.

Scenario: If Mumbai Indians win the toss

  •  Harmanpreet Kaur mentioned in the last game that there was no point batting second with no dew on offer.
  •  Pick the  top five batters of the team- Hayley Matthews, Yastika Bhatia, Nat-Sciver Brunt, Harmanpreet Kaur and Amelia Kerr
  • Saika Ishaque performed well from over the wicket and could add value along with Shabnim Ismail's new ball spells.

Scenario: If Gujarat Giants win the toss

  • Having won the last game batting first, the Giants would look to do so.
  • Pick the openers for certain- Beth Mooney and Laura Wolvaardt.
  • Spinning all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner and Tanuja Kanwer are other good picks.

Nat-Sciver Brunt (MI-W): The player of the match from the last game, Nat-Sciver Brunt would be key with both bat and ball for her team. The English all-rounder has been good with the new ball and during the middle overs. Although she is devoid of big scores, Nat has made great impact with the bat.

Amelia Kerr (MI-W): The Kiwi produced some stellar all-round performances in the past few MI matches. Kerr is a utility bowler during the middle and slog overs with her variation of googly and the leg-break. Melie has also helped the side propel to a fighting total on various occasions this season.

Scenario: If Gujarat Giants win the match

Beth Mooney (GUJ-W): The skipper of the side led from the front in their last game against RCB. She scored 85 and carried the bat helping the side to the highest total of WPL 2024. She is a very good player of pace and spin and it would be interesting to see how she pans out.

Tanuja Kanwer has picked up wickets regularly in the tournament (Source: x.com)Tanuja Kanwer has picked up wickets regularly in the tournament (Source: x.com)

Tanuja Kanwer (GUJ-W): The left-arm orthodox spinner has been a consistent wicket-taker for the Giants in the tourney. Having bagged seven wickets in five matches, there has not been a single game where Kanwer failed to scalp a wicket this season.

MI-W vs GUJ-W - High Risk, High Reward Picks

Laura Wolvaardt (GUJ-W): Although a consistent batter for her national side, Wolvaardt has failed to transpire her 'run-machine' version in WPL. However, the Proteas captain scored a brilliant 75 in the last game and hence could be one of the risky, yet productive options for captain or vice-captain of fantasy team.

Hayley Mathews (MUM-W): Despite a rough start to the competition, Mathews is slowly coming into groove. She scored a fifty in recent times and has been picking occasional wickets. Her all-round stature makes a good option but her form is a concern.

MI-W vs GUJ-W Stay Aways

Humaira Kazi (MI-W): The all-rounder gets to bat very low down the order and hence gets very less balls to face. With plenty of bowling options for the MI captain, Kazi is likely not to bowl.

Dayalan Hemalatha (GUJ-W):  The middle order batter has clearly flopped in WPL 2024. She failed to transpire her domestic brilliance into the big stages, thereby can be an option to omit for fantasy team.
