One of India's most cherished and beloved cricketers, Mahendra Singh Dhoni continues to be a fan favourite, despite having retired from international cricket back in 2019 after India's exit from Cricket World Cup in England.

However, Dhoni continued to spread his charm in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and lifted a record fifth title this year with the franchise.

On the other hand, one of India's most loved on-screen bahu Smriti Irani, during an Instagram Q&A session, named the former India skipper as her favourite cricketer.  The Actress-turned-politician is a Member of Parliament and India's current Minister for Minority Affairs (2022-), and Women and Child Development (2019-).

Answering a question from a follower, Irani shared as many as three Dhoni stickers with "Maahi Ve, Abhi Dhoni Hai, and On Strike"  tags on them. 

Between 2005 and 2019, the T20 World Cup, and 50-overs World Cup winning captain, featured in 90 Tests, 350 ODIs, and 98 T20Is, amassing over 17,266 runs with 16 centuries, and 108 fifties. 

Dhoni, who leads CSK in IPL, has appeared in 250 matches, and slammed 5,082 since 2008, apart from winning five trophies. 

Currently undergoing rehabilitation, Dhoni is expected to play in IPL 2024.
