Before bursting into the singing industry, Harrdy Sandhu was once a professional cricketer playing at the U-19 level for team India alongside Shikhar Dhawan. Sandhu, who once featured in Ranveer Singh’s film 83 has a rich cricketing past which only a few people are aware of.

The cricketer-turned-singer claims to have played professional cricket for nearly 10 years. He was seen as a key player for the India U-19 cricket team and also played alongside the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Ishant Sharma. However, his career came to a painful end in 2006 when he suffered a terrible elbow injury on his right hand which was also his main bowling arm.

"I played for around 10 years. I have played for the U-19 cricket team with Shikhar Dhawan. He was my roommate, and I have also played with Cheteshwar Pujara and Ishant Sharma. But in 2006, I had an elbow injury. I was a fast bowler and the injury was on my right arm. I tried to get treatment here, but kuch hua nahi."

Sandhu indicates that he tried to go to extreme lengths to fix his elbow issue but found no success. In a bid to restore his cricketing dream, Sandhu flew to Australia where he tried to seek medical attention. During his 11-month stay, he met a lot of doctors and tried his hands at other side gigs like taxi driving, etc. But unfortunately, nothing fortune transpired for him.

Talking about his IPL ambition, the singer regrets about not being able to feature in any IPL games. He claimed that he could have certainly competed successfully against his junior colleagues during his active playing days.

"I have been singing since I was four. Jab taxi mein koi nahi hota tha, tab gaata rehta tha. During that time, IPL had started and all those who were junior to me, unka bhi selection ho gaya. I felt really bad. I could have easily played in IPL."

As he began sensing his cricketing career slip away, Sandhu decided to give singing a go with all his heart and soon after, he became an overnight success.
