Shreyas Iyer has seemingly attained full recovery, and is set to feature in Team India squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against New Zealand after missing the home fixtures against South Africa owing to an injury. Funnily enough,

Shreyas Iyer nearly got injured again as his quick reflexes helped him escape a dog bite while he was interacting with fans at the airport.

The charismatic Indian batter recently made his return to competitive cricket by turning up for Mumbai in a couple of matches of the ongoing 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy season

The cricketer stepped in as Mumbai captain after regular skipper and all-rounder Shardul Thakur was ruled out of the competition due to an injury.

Dog tries to attack Shreyas Iyer in hilarious video

In a video circulating on social media on Friday, January 9, i.e., amidst the ongoing 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy season and ahead of India’s home ODI series against New Zealand, senior Indian batter Shreyas Iyer can be seen interacting with fans and signing autographs at an airport.

At one stage of the video, a fan also approached Shreyas Iyer with her dog, who adorably tried to bite the cricketer’s hand as he was attempting to pet him. Luckily for Iyer and Team India fans, the 31-year-old was quick enough to evade and survive the dog bite, as he shrugged off the incident with a smile before walking off towards his path.

Iyer making a comeback after a long hiatus

Shreyas Iyer sustained a nasty injury back in October while fielding against Australia at the SCG.

After rehabilitating at the BCCI CoE in Bengaluru, the Indian batter and ODI vice-captain celebrated his return to competitive cricket with a fiery 53-ball 82-run knock for Mumbai against Himachal Pradesh in a Vijay Hazare Trophy game earlier this week in Jaipur.

He followed it up with another 45 against Punjab, as Shreyas Iyer braces himself up for his international return against New Zealand next week.
