In a rare occurrence, Adelaide Strikers wicketkeeper Mackenzie Harvey took a catch in front of stumps to get rid of Hobart Hurricanes opener Tim Ward in match number 28 of the BBL 2025-26 season. Facing Tabraiz Shamsi in the eighth over of the Hurricanes innings, Ward attempted to whack the ball over the midwicket, but merely managed to get a thick inside edge to it.
The ball looped in the air before an agile Mackenzie Harvey behind the stumps charged forward to grab the ball, doing so while avoiding a nasty collision with the batter.
Mackenzie Harvey demonstrates his keeping wares with street-smart catch
Mackenzie Harvey picked up a sharp catch against Hobart Hurricanes in match 28 of the BBL 2025-26 season at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. With Adelaide Strikers spinner Tabraiz Shamsi bowling to Hurricanes opener Tim Ward in the eighth over of the innings, the South African T20 veteran induced a thick outside edge to send the ball looping into the air.
Standing behind the stumps, Mackenzie Harvey swallowed up the catch with ease to demonstrate his on-field presence and street-smart wares to get rid of the well-set opener for a run-a-ball 17 as the hosts slipped to 82-3 in 7.2 overs.

Despite Mackenzie Harvey’s wicketkeeping excellence, Hobart Hurricanes still managed to aggregate 178-6 in 20 overs. Opening batter Mitchell Owen blasted 33 off just nine balls at the top, while Rehan Ahmed, Nikhil Chaudhary, Matthew Wade and unbeaten Macalister Wright all chipped in with handy runs in the innings.
For the Adelaide Strikers, Luke Wood picked up two wickets at an expensive four-over spell of 48. Jamie Overton also chipped in with two scalps, and spinners Tabraiz Shamsi and Lloyd Pope picked up a wicket each in their combined seven overs.
