Elvish Yadav, after a string of low scores, rose to the occasion for Haryanvi Hunters in the second qualifier of the ECL 2024 season at Delhi’s IG Indoor Stadium. Batting first against Mumbai Disruptors for a spot in the finals, Yadav bludgeoned five scorching sixes in his 14-ball knock at the top of the order.

Notably, one of the five sixes Elvish hit drew striking similarities with MS Dhoni’s famous ‘helicopter shot’.

Social media giant and Haryanvi Hunters captain Elvish Yadav pounded 32 runs for his team at the top of the order from just 14 deliveries against Mumbai Disruptors. Interestingly, Yadav’s mother also attended the IG Indoor Stadium in Delhi to watch the knockout fixture between the two sides.

The Haryanvi Hunters skipper launched five sixes in his sizzling top-order cameo, and even pulled out a ‘helicopter shot’ to belt one of his five maximums. The shot in contention, itself popularised by former Indian captain and legendary wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni, even drew much applause from Elvish Yadav’s mother in the stands.

Before coming up trumps on the big day, Elvish Yadav sustained six successive failures with the bat for Haryanvi Hunters in ECL 2024 season. Moreover, the cricketer accrued just 28 runs from six innings combined at a dismal average of 4.67.

Regardless, Elvish Yadav’s fiery top-order cameo coincided with an equally explosive 13-ball 48 from opening partner Keshav Chaudhary. Rohit Lamba at number five also blasted 36 runs from just seven balls with six maximums.

The slugfest between Haryanvi Hunters and Munawar Faruqui’s Mumbai Disruptors marks the second qualifier of the ECL 2024 season. The winner of the match will set a date with Lucknow Lions in the final on September 22.
