Babar Azam, Pakistan's white-ball format captain and one of the most loved cricketers in his home country, recently displayed a humble gesture in response to the overwhelming support from fans during the domestic One-Day Cup. As fans chanted his name, Babar waved and urged fans to calm down.

Babar Azam is in the midst of a rough patch that has prolonged for several months. He is yet to hit a fifty in his last 10 Test innings and fell out of ICC's top 10 Test batters rankings.

As a result, Pakistan cricket has fallen to a new low. And as a senior player, Babar Azam found himself at the receiving end of the criticism. As per rumours, PCB is even exploring options to sack Babar from white-ball captaincy, months after he was reinstated.

Babar Azam Gets Support Amid Lean Patch!

That being said, amid a difficult time, Babar Azam is receiving immense love and support from the fans. He is currently participating in Pakistan's domestic one-day cup, and fans thronged the stadium during a practice session.

While Babar Azam was resting in the dressing room, as soon as fans began to chant his name loudly in a chorus, he stepped out to acknowledge the support. It was a very similar gesture to what Shah Rukh Khan, the biggest Bollywood superstar,  often does for his fans whenever crowds gather in front of his house during special events.

Not only did Babar Azam waved at the crowd but also urged them to calm down and not strain their voice by chanting loudly.

This simple but heartfelt gesture endeared him even more to the fans, reinforcing the special bond he shared with them.

Babar Azam Undone By Local Cricketer In One-Day Cup

It appears Babar Azam's lean patch is going to extend further as he struggles to score runs even in the domestic tournament. During a recent Champions One-Day Cup game, Babar was cleaned up by a local spinner named Mohd Asghar.

He misjudged a paddle sweep to gift his wicket and was dismissed off a run-a-ball score. This is an alarming sign for Pakistan cricket as almost every other senior player is struggling to even execute ordinary game play these days.
