India's superstar, Virat Kohli, is currently in Australia for the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT), where the visitors have managed to keep things tight after drawing the third Test match at The Gabba in Brisbane. The series stands level at 1-1, with the upcoming Boxing Day Test from December 26 onwards as the next mission to conquer for the Indian side.
Kohli's Form And Performance In Australia
Virat Kohli has had mixed form in recent times; while he did slam a brilliant century in Perth, he failed to fire the subsequent encounters in the ongoing BGT. Before the Australian Tour, numerous questions and criticisms arose over Kohli's form and performance; several lashed out by asking the 36-year-old to retire from tests.
Although Kohli is a player class apart, he has repeatedly talked about his mental toughness as a cricketer. The horrors of being in the public eye and constantly under the knife are unknown to the legendary player. Shedding light on this, Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan, while appearing on Ranveer Allahbadia's podcast, 'The Ranveer Show', revealed how Kohli's wife Anushka Sharma shared an incident where the star was dejected after India's loss against England in 2018.
Varun Dhawan On Virat Kohli
“Virat, I mean, everything he’s been through, the times he’s not been in good form, some insights that Anushka shared with me, about his mindset.
I think it was a Nottingham Test, where India had lost, and she said she didn’t attend that game that day. She came back, she didn’t know where Virat was, and she came to the room and saw him laid down, literally crying. He took the whole thing on himself…", revealed Varun Dhawan.
While Dhawan likely confused his Test matches, India’s outings in the other games, aside from Trent Bridge, were challenging.
He further continued and said: “How he took the whole thing on himself, like I failed, when he was still the highest scorer that day. He was the captain of the side.”
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli will return to action soon in the upcoming fourth Test against Australia.
