Indian wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul defied the odds to put up a phenomenal show with the bat against South Africa in the ongoing Centurion Test between the two sides. 

After Rohit Sharma and Co. were put in to bat first, the visitors collapsed to a disciplined Proteas bowling unit. Dangerous Kagiso Rabada picked a five-wicket haul to completely derail India's top order.

However, with his team's back against the wall, KL Rahul took it upon himself to rebuild the innings. Rahul stood tall and built multiple partnerships with tailenders to lift the men in blue's first innings total to 245 runs. In the process, KL Rahul scored a magnificent hundred to bring up his eighth test ton. 

As much as the players in the dugout were elated to witness Rahul's feat, the wicketkeeper batter's family back home was relieved as well. 


Athiya Shetty Reacts To KL Rahul's Ton Vs. SA 

KL Rahul's wife and Indian actress Athiya Shetty shared a story via her Instagram handle to express her excitement over her husband's milestone. Not only that, Athiya's father and KL's father-in-law, Suniel Shetty, also extended his best wishes to his son-in-law.



KL Rahul is coming off a long injury layoff, which forced him to be out of the field for several months. It was a difficult time to endure for the batter. But his family stood by him through the worst. 

The Indian wicketkeeper time and again reiterated how his wife, Athiya Shetty, played a huge role during his setbacks. She never left his side and stood like a rock throughout their courtship journey. 

Meanwhile, KL Rahul's hundred helped India add crucial runs to its total. In response, South Africa started off well but was later rattled by the Indian pace unit. After Mohammad Siraj produced an early breakthrough, Jasprit Bumrah claimed two wickets in quick succession in the second session.

However, South African veteran Deal Elgar is still holding one end of the crease to avert an imminent collapse.
