Shubman Gill touches Abhishek Sharma's parents' feet; receives blessings like a son

Shubman Gill, the current India ODI and Test captain, melted hearts online with a warm gesture toward his childhood friend’s parents. Gill greeted India opener Abhishek Sharma’s father and mother with warmth and affection before boarding the team bus in Australia.

The Indian cricket team is travelling to Hobart for the third T20I encounter against Australia in the ongoing five-match T20I series, which is now led by the hosts, 1-0.

Just before getting on the bus, Shubman Gill noticed Abhishek Sharma’s parents in the crowd gathered around the Indian players. Without hesitation, he bowed down to take blessings from Abhishek’s mother and hugged her warmly. 

Shubman Gill then turned to Abhishek’s father, bent down to seek his blessings, and received a hug and a kiss on the forehead before saying goodbye and boarding the bus.

The heartfelt video showcasing Shubman Gill’s humility and affection went viral online, winning the hearts of many fans. For those unaware, Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill have been childhood friends since their early cricketing days in Punjab, rising through the domestic ranks together. Gill’s affection toward Abhishek’s parents is, therefore, a natural reflection of their long-standing bond. Watch the clip here.

Meanwhile, the India vs Australia T20I series currently sees Australia leading 1-0 after the first match was washed out in Canberra and the hosts claimed victory at the MCG. With Josh Hazlewood, now out of the series for the Ashes warm-up, India will eye a dominant win in the absence of an experienced pace lineup for Australia.

The third T20I will be played on Sunday at Bellerive Oval in Hobart, where the Suryakumar Yadav-led team will look to bounce back and level the now four-match series.
