On India's 78th Independence Day, cricket captain Rohit Sharma shared a deeply emotional post on Instagram. 

Commemorating this significant day, Rohit posted a heartfelt video of himself waving the national flag from the top of the team bus during the victory parade that followed India’s T20 World Cup triumph in June.

The Indian cricket team received a grand reception in Mumbai after their World Cup victory, as they paraded through the city en route to the Wankhede Stadium.

During the celebrations, Rohit Sharma and his teammates proudly waved the national flag, soaking in the joyous atmosphere. Adding to this moment, Rohit had earlier planted the Indian flag at a Barbados stadium after India’s final victory over South Africa, further underscoring his deep connection to his country.

Under Rohit's leadership, India went unbeaten in the T20 World Cup, eventually securing a 7-run win over South Africa in Barbados. 

Following this success, Rohit announced his retirement from T20 Internationals, with his longtime teammate Virat Kohli also stepping away from the format. However, both made brief comebacks in India's ODI series against Sri Lanka, though the series didn’t go as planned for the team.

The Indian captain is expected to return to action in September in the two-Test series against Bangladesh.
