Things have gone from bad to worse as day 3 of the one-off Test between Afghanistan and New Zealand at the Greater Noida Stadium has been called off because of a wet outfield. Greater Noida witnessed heavy downpours in the early hours on Wednesday, which resulted in the officials calling off the day early on in the day.

Further, the poor drainage system at the Greater Noida Stadium has also come under criticism, as not a single ball was bowled in the first two days despite no or minimal rain.

There was downpour on the eve of the one-off Test, but a wet outfield resulted in no play on day one. A similar instance occurred on day two, where the groundsmen used various techniques such as electric fans and using the practice pitch's grass patch, but nothing could get the game to commence. Now with day three abandoned, let's look at the weather forecast for Thursday in Greater Noida.

Unfortunately, there are 100% chances of rain on day four as well, which hints that the game could even end without a single ball bowled. It could become the third international match hosted in India to have been called-off without a single ball being bowled. BCCI Not Responsible For Situation In Greater Noida

It is worth noting that the BCCI cannot be blamed for the situation in Greater Noida because the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) opted for Greater Noida as the venue as it was closer to Kabul.
