Day leading up to the IPL 2025 mega auction, Indian veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin hosted a mock auction on his YouTube channel where he played the role of an auctioneer and interestingly sold himself by inviting bids from analysts and fans he had seated in the audience.

In a record-breaking number, 1,574 players have signed up for the IPL 2025 mega auction, thus hoping to seal one of the 204 slots available across the 10 franchises. Punjab Kings have the largest purse, that is, INR 110.5 crore, while Rajasthan Royals is the one with the smallest purse at INR 41 crore. 

The big players, such as Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul, are expected to lead hot battles among franchises waiting to secure superior talent for IPL 2025. 

Ravi Ashwin turns auctioneer

Meanwhile, before the official carnival begins, Ravichandran Ashwin hosted a mock auction for his YouTube channel. In a trailer released, Ashwin invited many analysts, fans, and friends to act as bidders, whereas he himself played the role of auctioneer. Moreover, in a first for Indian television, Ashwin humorously auctioned himself alongside other prominent players.

During this mock event, big names like KL Rahul, Jos Buttler, David Warner, Trent Boult, David Miller, and Quinton de Kock were hypothetically sold to various teams. Meanwhile, KL Rahul triggered a virtual bidding war between Delhi and Kolkata, with bids soaring over INR 15 crores. 

The actual auction is scheduled for November 24 and 25 in Jeddah City of, Saudi Arabia. Ashwin, meanwhile, will be under the hammer as Rajasthan Royals (RR) declined his retention.

CSK might reunite with Ashwin

As per latest buzz, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) might opt for a reunion with Ravichandran Ashwin at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Ashwin started his career in IPL with CSK in 2009 and was an integral part of their bowling attack. However, a mega auction shipped him to RR and now the off-spinner is back again the auction with CSK keeping a close eye on his potential auction value.
