In a surprise crossover of cricket and tennis, India's flamboyant wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant attended the ongoing Wimbledon 2025 tournament in London. He spoke to the media and said that Novak Djokovic is someone who could emulate his unorthodox approach.

Pant is currently in London for the third Test against England, scheduled at Lord’s Cricket Ground from July 10. India levelled the series 1-1 after winning the Edgbaston Test by 336 runs.

Rishabh Pant Makes Bold Claim At Wimbledon

Ahead of the Lord’s Test, India’s Test vice-captain Rishabh Pant took time off to attend the electrifying Round 4 Wimbledon clash between Jannik Sinner and Grigor Dimitrov.

While speaking to Star Sports before the match, Pant shared his deep love for tennis and admiration for the sport’s biggest stars and, in true Pant style, made a headline-grabbing comparison.

Known for his fearless and unconventional cricketing strokes, reverse scoops, no-look sixes, and one-handed finishers, Pant said that Novak Djokovic is someone who, in tennis, could possibly mirror his audacious approach.

“I think I have to support Alcaraz. I think he's going to win the Wimbledon. That's my prediction. Rest, whoever plays the best tennis eventually is going to win. I think Djokovic definitely can pull it off (my shots) for sure," Pant said.

Interestingly, Pant is supporting Spanish hero Carlos Alcaraz to win Wimbledon. Alcaraz won the quarter-final against Cameron Norrie and will meet USA’s Taylor Fritz in the semi-final.

Pant Draws Similarities With Nick Kyrgios

Rishabh Pant, enjoying his first visit to Wimbledon, revealed his admiration for tennis legend Roger Federer, and his elegant backhand inspired him growing up. Pant also said he connects with Nick Kyrgios due to their shared charisma and flair on the field.

"When we started, I think Roger Federer, I used to love his backhand, and that was something which always inspired me. But at the same time, the way sport is evolving, Djokovic has been amazing. I think Nick Kyrgios (has same charisma as Pant), I think he's one guy I really used to enjoy watching because the way he plays, he enjoys his game, that is something I always look forward to," he added.

Meanwhile, the wicket-keeper has been in red-hot form in the ongoing Test series against England, delivering crucial knocks under pressure and proving why he remains India’s most fearless and entertaining red-ball cricketer.
