Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra once shared an emotional message for Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj. In 2021, he praised him for his courage and dedication to the nation even as he dealt with the heartbreaking loss of his father.
Before the memorable Test series against Australia began in 2020-21, Siraj’s father, Mohammed Ghaus, passed away in India.
Despite the immense personal grief, Siraj chose to stay back in Australia, determined to fulfil his father’s dream of seeing him represent India in Test cricket.
When Dharmendra was touched by Siraj’s gesture
After the conclusion of the Border-Gavaskar 2020-21 series, an emotional Mohammed Siraj went directly to his father’s grave from the airport and paid his respects.
That gesture left fans emotional, including Bollywood legend Dharmendra. Taking to Twitter, the actor posted a heartfelt note, calling Siraj a “brave-hearted son of India.”
He also condoled Mohammed Ghaus’ death and wished strength to Siraj and his grieving family.

Even at 89 years of age, Dharmendra is still working actively. He has done cameos in films like ‘Rocky aur Rani ki prem kahani’ and also appears on television shows as a guest.
Dharmendra faces a health scare
In November 2025, Dharmendra was hospitalised in Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital after complaints of breathlessness.
According to the family, the 89-year-old actor is now stable and recovering at home, having been discharged earlier this week.
Rumours that he was on ventilator support or that his condition was critical were strongly denied by his team, who called such reports “deeply disrespectful” and urged the media and public to trust only official updates.
