Mohammed Siraj, the Indian pacer who decided to stay back in Australia after his father’s death is determined to give a fitting tribute to him by performing well in the Test series and winning the tournament.
Siraj’s brother Ismail, while talking to a daily newspaper revealed how Siraj only cries when he calls by back home after saying ‘Abbu’ on the phone. “Siraj has promised that he will do well in the series and pay a fitting tribute to our father. He wants to win the series for him,” Ismail, Siraj’s brother told Times of India.
The elder brother of Siraj further said that while he has his relatives by him in times of such grief, Siraj is also being looked after well by the Indian coach Ravi Shastri and his IPL as well as team India captain Virat Kohli.
"I am in touch with the Team India manager. He has been so kind. I am really thankful to Virat Bhai and Ravi sir who are there and supporting Siraj. Other team-mates also visit him in his room and comfort him. Siraj needs a lot of support at this time,” Ismail said.
Siraj, 26, was picked into the Indian team after putting in some impressive performances in the IPL 2020 and showcasing his ability to swing the ball nice and easy.
When he was bought by IPL side Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2017 he had said, "I don't let my father drive an auto-rickshaw anymore."
