Rivaba Jadeja, wife of Ravindra Jadeja, has created a storm on social media after a video of her went viral. In the clip, Rivaba can be heard saying that several Indian cricketers “indulge in wrong activities” when they travel abroad. 

Jadeja, one of India’s finest all-rounders, has been a mainstay of the team for more than a decade. He made his international debut back in 2009 and has since played 89 Tests, 207 ODIs, and 74 T20Is.

Naturally, he travels a lot on tours to different countries.  

Rivaba takes a dig at cricketers for indulging in wrongful activities

Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja’s wife, Rivaba, a cabinet minister in the Gujarat Government, took an indirect dig at the cricket fraternity in her recent speech.

Rivaba praised her husband for staying away from indulging in intoxicants, saying Jadeja is aware of his responsibilities as a professional athlete. 

“My husband frequently travels to countries like London, Dubai, and Australia for cricket and, despite being exposed to different environments, he has never fallen into any kind of addiction or wrongdoing," Rivaba said in her speech.

She alleged that many cricketers are into intoxicants of all sorts when they travel abroad, as they’ve the freedom to do so. 

Rivaba hinted that even Ravindra Jadeja could have been influenced, but he chooses to maintain integrity and focus on cricket. She deemed her husband morally superior to the rest.

"Some other players in the team get involved in intoxication and bad habits because they have the freedom. Having left home at 14, nobody asks them any questions. My husband could have done the same, but he chose not to because he understands his responsibilities very well.”

Her comments have surprised many fans because such direct allegations rarely come from someone connected so closely to a senior Indian player. 

Who is Rivaba Jadeja?

Rivaba Jadeja, after marrying Ravindra Jadeja, ventured into public service. She is a politician associated with the BJP national party. She was born in Rajkot, Gujarat, and holds a degree in mechanical engineering. 

Rivaba joined the BJP in 2019 and won the Jamnagar North Assembly seat in the 2022 Gujarat elections. 

She now serves as a Minister of State in the Gujarat government, focusing on education and women’s causes.
