India’s wicket-keeper batter, KL Rahul, solidified his reputation as a dependable middle-order batter in ODI cricket by delivering another match-winning performance under pressure against Australia on Sunday, October 8th.

With an unbeaten 97 runs to his name, he was instrumental in India's successful start to the 2023 World Cup, as they defeated Australia by six wickets at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Australia won the toss and thought they'd set the tone by batting first. However, that decision went south as they were bowled out for 199 runs in 49.3 overs.

Ravindra Jadeja (3/28) was an absolute beast with the ball while Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah chipped in with two wickets each to add to the Aussie misery.

As for India's reply, it was a catastrophic start – they were reeling at 2/3 within just two overs, with Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, and Shreyas Iyer failing to even open their account.

KL Rahul, who has been in sublime form lately, then stepped onto the battlefield and joined hands with Virat Kohli to stabilize the innings. The 31-year-old appeared to be the epitome of control, playing with calculated risks and guiding India to the finish line.

Virat Kohli's bat was on fire as he played a remarkable knock of 85 runs from 116 balls, including six boundaries. Meanwhile, Rahul's brilliance shone through with an unbeaten 97 runs from 115 balls, featuring eight boundaries and two sixes.

With wishes inundating KL Rahul from all corners of the globe, a particularly touching message stood out, and it was none other than a special note from his wife, Athiya Shetty, who expressed her admiration and love after his outstanding performance.

Athiya Shetty took to Instagram to post a story dedicated to her husband, writing, ‘Best guy ever’.

Team India will next lock horns with Afghanistan in their second match of the 2023 World Cup on Wednesday (October 11) in Delhi.
