The last time Team India won the ICC World Cup was in 2011 under the leadership of MS Dhoni. He not only led Team India to World Cup glory but also played a big role as a finisher for India in that marquee event.

Meanwhile, Suresh Raina has now predicted that the player who will fill the shoes of MS Dhoni as a finisher at number six in the ongoing ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 for India.

The former India cricketer has named India’s Mr.360 Suryakumar Yadav as a batter who could fill the void left by MS Dhoni and play a big role in turning the tide in India's favour during the final overs in the prestigious tournament.

Here’s what Suresh Raina told Sports Tak:

"If anyone can make a huge impact in the death overs apart from MS Dhoni, then it's Suryakumar Yadav."

Suryakumar Yadav had a bit of a rough start in the ODI scene, but he turned things around big-time in the recent three-match ODI series against Australia, slamming two consecutive half-centuries in Mohali and Indore, helping India bag those wins.

While Suryakumar Yadav has been in excellent form lately, it's quite a long shot for him to break into India's starting 11, especially with the middle order already occupied by Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Hardik Pandya at positions four, five and six.

Suryakumar Yadav's path to India's starting 11 could open up if, in the absence of Shubman Gill, who is set to miss India’s World Cup opener against Australia, KL Rahul is moved up to the opening slot, creating an opportunity for Yadav at the number five position.

However, this move is not without its risks, as KL Rahul has been consistently exceptional at the number five spot and has been instrumental in India's success in the 50-overs format.
