Spiritual leader Baba Bageshwar Dham Sarkar (Dhirendra Shastri) swapped discourses for deliveries during his New Zealand visit, showcasing his cricketing skills in an impromptu turf match that delighted his followers.
While the 28-year-old has a massive fan following because of his spiritual and religious discourses, his exploration of the cricket field also displayed his talent with both the bat and the ball, sending his followers into a frenzy.
Baba Bageshwar Swings The Bat, Tries Pace Bowling
The energetic scene, captured on video circulating in social media, saw the revered figure enthusiastically trying his hand at both fast bowling and big-hitting with the bat. Chants of "Jai Shree Ram" filled the enclosed turf facility as his supporters cheered on every effort.
A playful host added to the light-hearted atmosphere, enthusiastically commenting on the Baba's all-day energy and surprising turn of pace. "Level dekhiye guruji ka, pura din bhar kam karna aur sham ko fast bowling!" (Look at Guruji's level! Working all day and then fast bowling in the evening!).
Baba Bageshwar's Earlier Encounter With Cricket
This isn't Baba Bageshwar's first foray into the cricketing spotlight. Just months earlier, in April 2025, he was seen enjoying a casual cricket session in Mumbai with former Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan had shared a video of their meeting, highlighting the Baba's cheerful participation in the game.
His New Zealand cricket outing, however, took his sporting spirit international. The video shows him swinging the bat hard, clearly enjoying the physical activity and the camaraderie of the game.
While perhaps not challenging for an IPL spot just yet, his energetic participation and the evident joy it brought to his followers made for a memorable and entertaining moment during his tour.
