India wrapped up the fifth and final Test against England at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala with a dominating win by an innings and 64 runs as they clinched the series 4-1.

The match, however, will be remembered not just for the cricket but for the off-field antics and social media banter that lit up the internet, featuring none other than the master of memes, Wasim Jaffer.

Wasim Jaffer hails Gill-Sarfaraz's fiery exchange with Bairstow

With Indian captain Rohit Sharma sidelined due to a stiff back, it was Jasprit Bumrah who stepped up to lead the team. But even without Rohit, the Indian team showed no signs of slowing down, particularly in the sledging department.

Enter Jonny Bairstow, Shubman Gill, and Sarfaraz Khan - the new faces of on-field banter, taking up the mantle in Virat Kohli's absence. The duo's exchange with Bairstow became the talk of the town, sparking reactions from fans and former players alike.

Amidst the fiery exchanges and the cricketing masterclass, it was a tweet from Wasim Jaffer that left everyone in stitches. Known for his wit and humour on social media, Jaffer dropped a hilarious post that not only referenced the Gill-Bairstow-Sarfaraz incident but also managed to bring Virat Kohli into the narrative, despite the star batsman missing the series due to personal reasons.

Meanwhile, Kohli, who had taken a break for the birth of his baby boy Akaay, was undoubtedly there in spirit as evidenced by the younger players channelling his signature aggression on the field.

Jaffer's tweet seemed to suggest that Kohli's legacy of competitive spirit and on-field banter was in good hands.

The tweet became an instant hit, reminding fans that while Kohli may have been absent on the field, his influence on the team's dynamics was evident. Fans and followers were left in splits, appreciating Jaffer's wit.

As the dust settles on the Dharamsala Test, the cricketing community is eagerly looking forward to Virat Kohli's return to action in the IPL 2024, where he will don the Royal Challengers Bangalore jersey once again.

With the T20 World Cup also on the horizon, it's clear that more thrilling cricket is on the way, and hopefully, more hysterical tweets from Wasim Jaffer.
