"Once a knight, always a knight," might ring true for Kolkata Knight Riders' ex-players as in a rare turn of events, Nitish Rana’s latest Instagram post witnessed a star-studded comment section featuring his former 2024 KKR teammates.

Rana, who was released by KKR ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction despite leading them to the 2024 title, had expressed his heartbreak earlier. Even his wife had posted a controversial remark on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the franchise’s decision.

Since then, Rana has shown signs of being deeply hurt by the release, although his affection for KKR has not completely faded. Now part of the Rajasthan Royals squad, Rana has often been spotted wearing a KKR cap during domestic practice sessions, reflecting his longing for the franchise.

Suyash, Salt, Harshit Back Rana's DPL Heroics

Completing that sentiment, his recent Instagram post turned into a mini KKR reunion. On August 29, Nitish Rana played a blistering unbeaten knock of 134 runs off just 55 balls, guiding West Delhi Lions to a memorable victory in DPL 2025 Eliminator against South Delhi Superstarz.

The following morning, August 30, he posted a celebratory picture of himself smashing the winning runs along with a picture of his new-born's finger on his lips, indicating to his haters to keep their mouths shut.

Within just eight hours, the post garnered nearly 50,000 likes, with his former KKR teammates flooding the comment section.

Suyash Sharma, now an RCB player, wrote, “That’s why I always call you Badshah.” Harshit Rana, currently the only one still with KKR, commented, “Ye hui na baat.” Former KKR opener Phil Salt, now with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, added, “Rana ji.”

Though the players are now scattered across different franchises after the 2025 mega auction, the comments reflected a bond that remains intact. The rare moment turned into a symbolic reunion for KKR’s 2024-winning squad, showing the camaraderie beyond team boundaries.

Nevertheless, as of now, Rana’s match-winning knock has propelled West Delhi Lions into the Qualifier 2 against East Delhi Riders, scheduled for August 30 at 7 PM IST, where they will fight for a spot in the finals.
